Hi, I'm Allie - a Registered Mental Health Nurse (MHRN) and Certified Clinical Supervisor with over 10 years of frontline and community-based experience supporting people through complex and diverse mental health journeys. My clinical background spans acute inpatient care, crisis and community teams, university mental health services, defence and veteran support, and complex case coordination.
Alongside evidence-based clinical care, I bring a creative and embodied lens to therapy. My background in music therapy and running a community skateboarding school informs a unique, movement-based therapeutic style that supports emotional regulation, self-expression, and connection.
I created Mind Over Board to offer care that goes beyond clinical settings—blending professional expertise with my passions in skateboarding, music, and creative expression. My practice is deeply trauma-informed, neurodiversity-affirming, LGBTQIA+ inclusive, and grounded in the belief that healing is a personal, non-linear process that deserves a fresh approach.
As a Mental Health Nurse, I provide specialised 1:1 support by combining a holistic framework with clinical expertise. My approach is grounded in the biopsychosocial model, meaning I consider biological, psychological, social, and economic factors when assessing mental health. This enables me to identify patterns and cause-and-effect links, including the impact of early life experiences and trauma, which are often overlooked in traditional medical or psychological pathways.
I bridge gaps between specialist services by drawing connections across areas of life that might otherwise remain siloed. A key part of my role is providing medication psychoeducation—ensuring you are fully informed about the purpose, effects, and side effects of your treatment. This is an area that is often underexplored in prescribing contexts, but one that is critical for safe, collaborative care.
While I refer to and collaborate with other disciplines as needed, I remain alongside you throughout the process. My role is to advocate for you, coordinate care, and ensure your needs are not lost in handovers between services.
Although my work is informed by the biomedical model, I also recognise its limitations. Mental health is not a fixed state of illness and recovery, but a continuum that shifts across the lifespan. For this reason, support may be ongoing, episodic, or provided on a PRN basis, depending on what life demands at the time.
I bring a holistic lens and an ability to identify nuances, offering insight and integration that complements and extends beyond other disciplines.
